Greetings and Salutations

First, I am a Tennessean. A lot of people look at my state and think of country music, mountains and hillbillies. However, it has a lot to offer. Nashville, the closest major city to my home, is a cosmopolitan place with a wide variety of culture and opportunities. I have lived in the area all of my life and have never seriously considered living anywhere else. I love to visit other places. In fact, I have been to every state and numerous foreign lands. There is nothing better than traveling and returning home.

Second, I am a historian. I teach at a small, private, liberal arts university and enjoy my job tremendously. Filling young minds with history is a fulfilling occupation. However, it does not pay many bills. Therefore, I also own rental property (some accuse me of being a slumlord, but I’m not). Until the economic crash, I was a developer. Well, I am still a developer, but there just isn’t much developing going on.

Third, I am a blogger. This is totally new to me. Honestly, I always thought blogging was a waste of time. Nobody cares what I think or do. It seemed like a cool thing to do, though. And who knows, someone out there might find a few things I say interesting (just like my students).
